Any opportunity to check out Mike Mignola’s work pre-publication is like getting a bottle of fine bourbon on Christmas day…also, that bottle has been padded with dollar bills instead of packing peanuts. Not trying to rub it in, just really excited.
Occasion of Revenge #1 comes out July, and holy moley does it appear to take off with a bang! If you’re new to The Goon, go get some trade paperbacks (story arc compilations of usually 4-6 issue collections, for those of you who don’t know the term) and start soaking this universe up! Seriously. Get to it.
Do you remember the game that promoted fast pizza delivery way back in the day? Is the word “Noid” familiar? Do you know what MS-DOS or a Commodore 64 are (or rather, were)? If you answered yes to any of these, you are almost certainly approaching 30 (if not past the mark already) or are simply cool beyond your years…at least as far as I’m concerned.
Today, March 22nd, has been declared “Hellboy Day” by Dark Horse comics in celebration of 20 years of one of the most celebrated characters in comic-dom. If you like RPGs, medieval motifs and monster hunting, then you’re in for a treat. The Witcher is a comic based on a PC hack-and-slash RPG (which was based on a book series), and is a recent addition to the Dark Horse Comics lineup. This looks bodacious.
Soooo it’s February, which means that comic, horror, sci-fi and other pop-culture convention schedules are kicking off for the year. Spring is con season in my neck of the woods–there’s a humble page dedicated to this on the menu above–and for many that means strapping on the ‘ol cosplay boots, packing some snacks and beverages into a mostly-empty bag (gotta have room for merchandise), and setting out for the wild costumed yonder.
