I’m starting a regular weekly post today called “webcomic of the week”. Clever, I know. It’s nothing fancy-just comics I stumble across and really enjoy. I’m kicking things off with my most recent discovery, one which has apparently been around a while, but is still getting churned out. I give you writer/artist Kris Straub’s, Broodhollow.
This webcomic has a pretty sizable following, and has already had a successful Kickstarter campaign for a print run of the series’ first arc. A lighthearted thriller, Broodhollow has that Lovecraftian edge to it that draws me to, well, anything Lovecraftian actually. This brilliant comic is drawn with classic cartoon notes and style and is set in the rural and fictional town of Broodhollow.
Follow encyclopedia salesman Wadsworth Zane as he navigates the mundane (and not so mundane) complexities of claiming an inheritance from his late and long-lost uncle. Dodging ghosts, narrowly escaping giant bats and avoiding aggressive local business owners are just a few regular occurrences in the mysterious town of Broodhollow. Of course, I’m leaving out the best bits because hey, why spoil it? I really love this comic and can’t wait to see where it goes. Check out Broodhollow here and more on its creator, Kris Straub here.
