Looking for a pick me up? Need a dose of wonky satire? Do you feel like ruining yourself for all other pop culture publications for the rest of time? If you replied “yes” to any of these questions (and even if you didn’t), you should probably check out The Devastator.
The quarterly pop culture/satire magazine and blog The Devastator has been cruising since its initial Kickstarter campaign in 2009. Delivering hilarious stories, comics and parodies of all things pop culture, homages abound (as well as amusing, but not-always-so-flattering references) in this gem of a publication.
And as good as all that sounds, it’s not even the best part of The Devastator. The real meat and potatoes of this magazine comes from a wide range and ever-changing list of contributors which includes writers from The Onion, The Daily Show, Adult Swim and lots of other humor-spawning sources. Illustrators from Marvel, DC and BOOM! help create The Devastator‘s comics as well as contribute to its unique style and format. If those aren’t good enough reasons to check it out, you can find a more complete bio and list of contributors here. I mean, for Pete’s sake, James Urbaniak (voice actor in the one of the best TV shows of all time, the Venture Brothers, and a whip-smart gentleman to boot) helped Devastator editors Amanda Meadows and Geoffrey Golden get this beauty going, so you know its a doozie!
